John Preston Bullard, Jr. was born on March 12, 1924, in Oak Park, Illinois to John Preston Bullard and Frances Marguerite Strawbridge Bullard. He spent his boyhood in Maywood, Illinois and graduated from Proviso High School in Maywood.

John enlisted in the service during World War II and served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a radar specialist with a rank of master sergeant. He married Audrey Marie Bell in Maywood on July 21, 1944, during his military service. He then attended Elmhurst College for 2 years where he played football with his good friend, Harry Horst. He obtained his masters degree in chemistry from the University of Illinois and then relocated his family to Hammond, Indiana in the late 1940's.

John worked for many years as a research chemist for Standard Oil in East Chicago, Indiana. He took a chance with a new occupation in the late 1950's and began selling and building homes and apartments with his good friend, Jim Dye. That venture turned out to be so successful that John was able to retire in 1975 and begin 25 years of countless adventures, as well as devotion to a part-time practice as a Christian Science practitioner. The adventures took the form of worldwide travels with Audrey, hiking and backpacking in Colorado and Africa, sailing in Hawaii and delving into horse boarding and training businesses in Colorado and Texas. John was an avid photographer and loved to meet new people in all walks of life. He was active in Lion's Club and as the Parks Board President in Griffith, Indiana where he was instrumental in starting the annual Art Fair, and as a Rotarian in Fort Collins, Colorado. He was a devoted Christian Scientist and active in all levels of church life.

In 1985, John and Audrey moved from Indiana to Fort Collins where they lived until Audrey died in 1995. John was remarried to Victoria Basil Bullard on February 12, 1996 and moved to Henderson, Nevada, where they lived until John's death.

John is survived by his wife, Victoria; his aunt, Kathryn Gee of Michigan City, Indiana; his brother, Robert Bullard of Orland Park, Illinois; four children, Elizabeth Reichel of Dalton, Illinois, Thomas Bullard of Sterling, Colorado, Peter Bullard of Fort Collins, and Ann Lee of Fort Collins; two step-children, Gino Basillotta and Gia McCleary, both of Las Vegas, Nevada; and by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. His first wife, Audrey, his sister, Joyce Calendo, and a grandchild, Michelle Earl, predeceased him.

John had many friends and family members who loved him and will miss him greatly. Donations in his memory may be made to the Trails Funds Project of Rocky Mountain Park Associated care of Rocky Mountain National Park, Estes Park, Colorado 80517.
