Needing an adventure before settling down to the fall chores, I called Ann and set up a visit. I decided to drive out and enjoy the countryside so I got my trusty '93 Celica serviced and hit the road. I stopped overnight near the Lincoln, Nebraska and parked under a tree, which turned out to be a big mistake. The next morning the hood and windshield was coated with bird poop, and I had to have it washed before I left. But when the fog burned off, I could see forever, and found the drive through Nebraska just beautiful. But I was heading toward a thunderstorm, the mountains, and Wyoming. I found out later, that it's quite common to see these thunderheads spring up in the afternoons around there. When I arrived, I saw Ann was half the size she was at our last meeting, and I was so happy for her, though she is still nearly a foot taller than her same-age cousin.
Saturday evening we drove to Boulder to meet with Lauren and Rachel. I forgot about the camera, but Rachel is a blossoming teenager with her mommy's good looks and the curliest red-brown hair. Tim was off working, so I missed him, but he is temporarily staying with his sister. Near sunset we took off into the foothills to the Starhouse, which overlooks Boulder, and joined in the singing and dances of Universal Peace. It was beautiful and inspiring. And it was great seeing Lauren again!
Sunday we went to Pete and Judy's for dinner and met Sarah's new family - husband, Cris, and little baby Sage. Emily came too, and I got quite a few photos of us all.
| Here we are - cousins forever! |
|
Here is Sage, at about 10 weeks old. He's a squirmer and was trying to roll over while we watched. |
| Cris and Sarah - Cris is friendly. He and Sarah are adjusting well to their parental roles, and Sarah is even taking classes again this semester. (And her figure is perfect again already!) |
| Pete and Emily, lounging after pizza and salads! |
| Emily is so beautiful! |
| Pete and Judy look the same as they did 20 years ago, don't they? |
| Ann just ate salad - she is SO good! |
| Me and Pete - so you really know I WAS there! |
| Monday was our little mini-adventure. We listened to Rock and Roll while Ann drove to Vedauwoo - about and hour or so away in Wyoming. The scenery was magnificent. Ann told me Jonathan said this formation looks like a person sitting at a piano. I think so too! |
| Now THIS is Vedauwoo! in the Laramie Range - These formations are WAY older than the Rockies - 1.43 billion year old Sherman Granite. (I found that on a web search). |
| These boulders are magnificent! Ann took this. |
| And I took this! |
|
I even got my little car in one shot - with Ann at the wheel.
Hope you enjoyed the show! |
Thanks - ANN, PETE, and all for a wonderful visit!
