Dad had visited his brother Carl and family before, but John and I had not seen our Uncle Carl since I was a teenager and John was in his early 20's. Uncle Carl had been very close with our family when we were young and we remembered him fondly. When he was ordained in the late '60's, he moved to Texas to minister a church in a suburb of Dallas.
Dad had lost Carl's address and phone number in one of his moves, but about 2 years ago we reached Carl through his church and discovered he had e-mail. (He sent me photos which were featured then on the Website in Uncle Carl's Family.) John and I had never met our cousins. We e-mailed each other occasionally, and finally, we visited them in May. We had a wonderful visit and plan to keep in touch regularly.

Their home is in a lovely neighborhood. It is a huge ranch and they had just completed a major remodeling of the inside. It is beautiful. They were still putting things back in place when we showed up.

This is Uncle Carl's new office all neat and organized. He's got a powerful PC too, which was disconnected for several months during their remodeling. He had so much e-mail on his server waiting for him that he couldn't use e-mail while we were there.

Carl posed on his back porch with a smile that I had to share. We decided he looks a bit like Shawn Connery.

John took this photo in front of the wonderful Japanese restaurant we went to Friday night - and stuffed ourselves!

The kitchen became the social center as we helped Carl (and John) cook us some grand meals.
After our last meal together before the sun went down, we remembered to gather for a series of photos in the front yard.

Jennifer grabbed Rosie, her favorite Pug. They have 2 more dogs inside that are well over a hundred in doggy years.
Thanks again to Carl and our cousins for a wonderful and memorable visit!
